You would imagine they would release this now instead of "hoping" for an EICMA appearance later in the year, which would indicate it's a concept. Probably wouldn't sell well in future years if it's a 100th model. Probably bored out a Bellagio Engine too!
Unless it has a new engine and chassis it’ll just be another joyless, knuckle-dragging pretender. A two valve, air cooled, OHV shitter won’t cut it unless you are a gormless follower of fashion.

The Honda CX500 was water cooled. It was a great bike, with pushrods for simpletons. I'm sure it was designed as a poke in the eye for Guzzi as it was launched about the same time as the V35/50 models. The only thing they had that the Honda didn't was price and looks. Honda still sold a boatload of CX's because they were a MUCH BETTER MOTORBIKE!
Now if, forty years on, Guzzi are going to tilt at the same, stupid, windmill? The y are going to learn that Sancho Panza comes as not a protector but as an avenging angel.
There is no way in the world that a water cooled two valve twin is going to be a saviour. Four valve? Hi Cam? Maybe! But why in that case keep the unneeded in the case of a transverse V engine if you plan to water cool it?
Piaggio talk shit and then smirk when idiots lap it up. It makes me want to puke.

Well i would be quite interested in a long low roadster with a full fat v85 engine.
"Moto Guzzi celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2021, and to make the celebration memorable, a totally new V-twin will be unveiled, displacing at least a liter and featuring liquid-cooling and four valves per cylinder."
They need to just resurrect the 8V/carc and market it properly. They could give it a refreshed appearance in hopes people wouldn’t recall the self destructing tappet fiasco. They have it too easy with Vespa. As long as they don’t screw up Vespa, they can make a hash of everything else and still turn a profit.

It will all depend on Piaggio's strategic plan and i guess Moto-Guzzi has an allocated 'segment'.
Really i am just glad it Guzzi still appears to have a future and I guess only the continued sales success of the v7 has bought that future

Sadly I think the Big Block is dead. The future does not lie with the endlessly recycled smallblock though.
Just say no to pushrods! Really! And air cooling too.
Then we might get round to Guzzi doing something exciting.
Let's face it, this decade will be the last gasp of internal combustion engines. I'd like to see Guzzi go out with a bang rather than a whimper......

but we like the agricultural feel of pushrods and air cooling....
another reason I don't have a 'new' Ducati. I can't afford the service fees.

If i was looking at these sub brands of Piaggio and where i might put an lectric motorbicycle...
I would choose Guzzi - the demographic is not looking for light hypersports machines and values engineering and individuality.
Personally i like exploding dinosaurs but just saying

I'd like to see them revamp that loverly 120 degree twin from back in the day with liquid cool, 8v, etc. Something more interesting than another turd V7 incest survivor.
Mmm Pete in your humble opinion what do you think guzzi should make, I personally would love to see a V8 one litre engine from guzzi at least that would be going out with a bang and not a whimper or a 4 valve water cooled V twin that would fit a variety of models from California to a lemans as was done in the olden days. Just food for thought, Viva la Vida Moto Guzzi

It's got a lot more going for it than anything they're making at the moment.
I've been saying for a couple of decades that Guzzi should be making scooters. You can't keep a marque alive by selling a few high end motorbikes. Where is the R&D money going to come from for the next generation?
Build simple, cheap, transport. The profits from that can fund the exciting stuff, or not. Guzzi has a bad history with that unfortunately. Let's face it, the last real facelift the Marque got was with Aprilia's investment in the CARC platforms and 8V motor. Since then we've seen the disastrous 1400 series, vast, overweight, under-suspended pigs of things that required little development but sold like rat sandwiches and the endless regurgitation of the Smallblocks with little or nothing innovative and a tiresome reliance on showy electronics and a flashcard approach to colour scheme changes to appeal to an audience with little knowledge and a three second attention span.
Bring on something NEW even if it's *only* a scooter. I'd buy that over a V85 or any one of the snore inducing variants of the prehistoric V7 series.
