Just got a phone call from Qld Dept of Transport.
They wanted me to send photos of my Vin# and Eng#
Somebody in the ACT has just tried to register a Guzzi with the same engine number. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Maybe an error of the written kind rather than an attempt at nefarious activity.

The nice little lady at DoT compared photos and both appeared to be identical factory stampings.

Could be a case of Luigi having too much Vino for lunch and getting his number punches out of order.

Apparently Fuji San from Suzuki had a similar sake situation.

Lady with a GS1250S Bandit called me yesterday. Couldn't sell her bike as she couldn't find the engine #. This 2013 model with only 3,800km has already been thru 2 dealers in 2 different states.

Dinky di! There was no engine number at all, just a blank space where it should be. Last dealer to sell the bike has a please explain headache to deal with.

Oh, the number goes on the back of the crank case right in front of the swingarm, will be a big job to remedy that one.
