2007 Norge - ECU 44 code

Took her for a solid ride out this morning to a cafe I enjoy visiting. She did have a very strange idle on the way out but this didn't happen on the way back. I'll spray the stepper motor spout with some carb cleaner as I know the airbox had oil contamination from a previous owner's overfilling.

No issues starting and no engine death opening the throttle. Just typical that it really was the extreme solution of an ECU swap

Not motivated enough to do a full dive as to why - but I think I mentioned earlier in the thread that another owner had wired the wrong wire to positive when fixing startus interruptus. Potentially could have damaged the ECU in doing so

Possibly, but I’d be surprised.

More likely just bad luck.

At least replacement ECU’s are commonplace and cheap due to their use on a series of Ducrappy’s of the same sort of vintage.

On the off chance that someone has the same symptoms as me and finds this thread (since it doesn't seem to happen often) here's the "ideal" order for troubleshooting:

1. test/swap ignition relay [replace relay if swapping fixes it]
2. verify 12v is getting to the coil side of the relay [check ignition circuit if it is not]
3. verify 12v. is getting to pin 1 of the ECU [if not, replace pink/brown wire to ECU]
4. test the continuity to negative battery on the back of the ECU body [if it's poor/open loop either clean up the ground strap on the ECU or add a supplemental ground wire to the negative terminal from the same bolt]
5.ECU replacement
