4 years of riding this bike with the beetle map, somehow I didn't realise that you're supposed to remove the snorkel

finally tried it yesterday

Oh yeeeeahhhhh, yes yes yes, extra midrange power, but more feel too, it was good before but that is now a perfectly tuned V-twin

thank you!!!

cheers I think any performance gain is placebo effect BUT ....don't forget when you fill the new extra storage space with junk like puncture repair kit/CO2 canisters/sandwiches/beer/stuff in plastic bags, it's now much easier for bits and pieces (and big pieces) to significantly choke the air inlet.....don't ask me how I know that !

When i removed the snorkel I fixed a wire mesh inside the air filter housing to cover over the inlet and help prevent anything going inside.
Probably unnecessary, but I didn't like the gaping hole that was left Laughing

I had a similar experience, though not a big difference. Slightly smoother at lower rpms and under load. But, that was before re-mapping.

Let´s face it: The mighty GRiSO sounds even better without snorkel. I could not tell a real difference after already riding with a beetle-map before snorkelectomy, but definitely the sound improved.

The G11 still equals a KTM 690 Duke R (70 kg lighter, 15 HP less) in acceleration - ask me how I know ...
