Short trip report for y'all. Arkansas makes me smile! I've been wondering if I'd ever make it out to the Ozark mountains. I was heading there from Hotlanta several yrs ago on a '71 R75/5 BMW, going to a Guzzi rally before I'd ever own one. 400 miles from home she failed me. Ultimately some diode board issue. Me and electrodes never have been on speaking terms... Fast forward DECADES and I'm on a Goose for try #2. Quick stop in Tupelo, MS a run through Elvis birthplace and time to stop for the night. No Interstates on this trip, it's back road Americana for me. Pressed on next morn to Clarksville, AR crossing the mighty Mississippi river. Morning of the 3rd day and the Ozarks were a callin'. Over to White Oak and up the Pig Trail I went. Some road repair going on as the area has taken a beating lately from mother nature. Sharp right onto 16 (above St.Paul) and plunged back down 21 into Clarksville. Now it was time to meet the Arkansas Dragon! ..and it didn't disappoint! Pressed for time now, I picked up 16 again to Witts Springs. (Note to self: not a lot of gas stations in these parts) A nervous 42 mile ride where I found gas in Clinton. But what a thrill ride it was! There doesn't seem to be a straight road around here. Like I said, Arkansas truly makes me smile 4 days. 1400 miles. Oh, and I took a few pics, saved a few turtles.
