So am looking at my turnsignals which are flopping like they need that viagra/cialis combo.
Which is when I see a chunk of hose lying under the bike. Little mushroom plug on it.
That one turned out to be the airbox drain.
Fixing that I see another similar but slightly larger hose running to the back of the canister. Same nasty brake-fluid colored translucent hose just 2mm larger, mushroom plug too.
Any idea where that hose goes? It crumbled the instant I looked at it.
“Fixed” the turnsignals with popsicle sticks, tape, and levitra.

Huh.
Responding, saying thank you, and they’re not posting. Let’s see what this one does.

So Beetle, thanks for that. Was puzzling through the parts diagrams, no luck yet.
Love love love the way this motor runs, thanks to you.
Was just talking up your map today to a guy who owns an unimproved ‘14. Says he hates how it runs, and didnt know about you until I told him.
About that drain hose. Looks like I have to pull the exterior plastic from the seat section?
The bike has been running like a champ. But. If those drains have been sucking in air, that changes the mix.
What if anything does this tell me and what if anything should I do?

The two drain hoses from the airbox are important and, most important of all, should be plugged. The thing is they come from the ‘Clean’ side of the airbox after the air filter and if not closed off will draw dirty air into the airbox where it will combine with oil vapour from the breather system and make a delightful grinding paste that will make short work of your throttlebodies! The fact they are sucking air won’t affect the mixture BUT……..
Those two drains, and the one from the battery tray, and the one from he tank filler gutter which on non US bikes is conjoined with the tank vent, all should go down to a small wire loop type holder just inboard of the right hand riders footpeg. The original hose used by Guzzi is utter shite and fossilises and breaks up very quickly. We just replace the vent hoses with standard 6mm polythene hose and plug them with 3D printed plugs Michael makes at home. The hose can be bought at any Home Depot/Bunnings/B&Q type place for about $4 a metre and should be secured with wire clips or a hose clamp.

RR,
The plastic (or whatever the stalks are made of) crumbles -- he says by guesstimating, the alternative to really knowing the science -- from the effects of prolonged exposure to sunlight.
And, yes, popsicle sticks, the duct tape and zip tie of the wood world.
