Hi, Does any of you uses these "C" racks? I keep seeing rubber marks on the assembly bolt heads... I was checking the heigth of the Helmet net pins and compared it to these assembly volts and there is a good cm difference.... Have you noticed that too? Any fix? I'm affraid if it hit a bump hard on the road this can get sketchy.... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

After many tens of thousands of miles with the C-Bow system I’ve not had any rubber on the mount bolt heads.
Does look like you’re getting fair use from your tires, judging by the chicken strips

Hi ratso Your C-Bows have the same mounts as mine? Do you ride solo/duo? Which shock do you have?

Without measuring them the actual ‘Tube’ length of the mounts looks the same as the factory kit racks BUT the factory mounts the ‘Tubes’ are countersunk so the bolts that attach them reside within the length of the ‘Tube’.
The arrangement with the system you have seems to leave the bolts sitting proud of the ‘Tubes’. Perhaps that is the problem? (Shrug?)

Yes, but that's the arrangement delivered by H&B... I'm going to question them about this..

Looks fine to me - picture of mine below & they never hit the tyre even with lighter springs (TBH Matris & Stelvio shocks are longer than OEM sachs). The std alloy 'lugs' that come off when you fit C-bow sticks out about the same amount as the C-Bow supports plus allen head; so you'd expect them to get rubber on if that was a problem
I'd look at your suspension (based on your other thread) & see if the shock/springs are allowing contact

Hi Paul, The alloy lugs are about a centimeter shorter. The rubber marks were done with the stock spring. I'm starting today a one week ride (duo+luggage) with the Hyperpro spring I just installed. Lets see how it behaves...

Hello Matias,
Yes, it appears I am running the same set up on the racks. Rear shock is a Nirton. I run the shock preload the same for solo and packed up for a couple weeks road trip. No two up riding, the wife says “ no way I’m riding with you on that”.
I’ll be home tomorrow and can get some measurements if you’d like.
(edit: Rear Shock = Nitron)

Paul, your racks seem to stay closer to the bodywork than mine. My bags look like a pair of wings [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Did the first trail with the New Hyperpro spring today. I think I didn't hit the bolts.... I heated up the chicken Stripes though [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have the C-Bows too, and no issue with the tyre hitting the mounting studs. I would have assumed that the rear shock would run out of travel and bash the bump stop before the tyre was able to articulate that high under the rear guard?

I was assuming that too... I guess my rubber bump stop was smashed due to the weak spring.

That seems the most likely answer - i had C-Bows on my GRiSO and never got the tyre to hit the allen screws - even 2-up and loaded
