My project developed starting issues. I thought flat battery from sitting around, you know the signs, hit the starter, click nothing happens. I knew there were problems with Guzzi's and starting, I had to correct the Breva but it's problems were different. After reading the old posts and wading through the technical details I decided on the action of mounting a relay near the starter and using the original solenoid wire as the exciter. She now starts first time every time. Thanks to all those that contributed to this subject.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hi, could you give little more details about how to do this mod?
I have a problem when I want to start my GRiSO 850 in cold weather, I have done the "Click of silence" modification but still have problems when it's cold weather. Like yesterday we had -3°C, it just clicked and the speedometer screen goes black and comes back again. I had to connect my external start helper to get it to start. The battery is OK, it's a Lithium battery I checked the starter motor today to see if the problem was there, but it seems to be in good condition. Anyway I took it apart and cleaned and regreased everything. Then I connected a crank test instrument and got those values. Cranking Test: Time: 260ms Cranking: LOW Cranking Volt: 7.91V
Why goes the volt down to 7.91V, seems to be a bit low to me. There's no problem to start when it's like +4°C as today.

It takes lots of amps to turn the big cylinders, 12V is not enough. 13V or better. I don't do Li batteries but from experience if you turn key on for 5min it will warm itself. Starts better. Just cause it costs a lot doesn't mean it's good, not in the cold.

Lithium batteries do not perform well when cold. In fact, those sold for use in campers often have internal heaters to keep them ready for use. Those are normally used where a solar charger is supplying enough energy to run the heaters, letting the batteries supply larger, surge loads.
So, lithium may not be a good choice if you intend to ride in cold weather.

Some good content on fix is here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Before (and after) this it's worth pulling & reseating all the relays (I've fixed problem doing this even after doing main fix !); check earths; check battery etc

Sounds like the battery needs replacing if the voltage drops that low. That's why the the screen goes blank too. We don't experience such low temps where I live but I've heard cold is dynamite on lithium batteries.

I ordered a new Exide 18Ah battery during black friday, 110 euro Also ordered a Ctek CS One battery charger that claims to be able to "wake up" Lithium batterys and other batterys.

I've just gone with a lithium. It completely fixed the starting issue I was having with the previous battery. It also doesn't seem to go flat over a few weeks like the last one did. Final test will be the cold here in winter.. it was cheaper than the 'correct' AGM battery too.. so far im a lithium convert

I only use Lithium batteries. I've never had one fail due to cold. Well, coldest it ever had to start was -2 C. Maybe it doesn't get cold enough on mainland Oz to be a problem, or maybe it's because I don't buy cheap arse Lithium batteries

Ok, maybe I should have ordered the NOCO NLP14 Powersport Lithiumbatteri 4 Ah instead. I liked the light weight and the extra space under the battery. The Lithium battery I have is 7 years old JMT.

Also convinced with lithium batteries as well and for the same reasons listed previously. A must

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The original question was can I expand on what I did to fix the problem. This diagram shows the basic wiring. Use a 12v relay instead of the 24v relay pictured.
