Torn oil pan gasket from AF1 :( Empty
PostSubject: Torn oil pan gasket from AF1 :(   Torn oil pan gasket from AF1 :( Icon_minitime1Wed Jan 08, 2025 5:53 pm

Got a little mis unfortunate here.

Purchase an oil pan gasket from AF1 (Oil Pan Gasket - GU05003630) and one edge is torn when I received it, it's almost completely ripped apart.

I know it's not an expensive part and I could probably ask AF1 to send me a replacement maybe? but shipping to Canada is actually more expensive than the gasket itself and I probably have to pay to send the damaged one back....it's probably not even worth the trouble...

So my question is Can I still use it? maybe together with some gasket sealer?

I wouldn’t. Sometimes shit like this just happens.

Can you get one locally easily enough? Montreal has a Guzzi dealer surely? I’d just drop AFI a line and tell them and ask them to include another one in your next order. Order a couple of oil filters and air filters, a set of rocker cover gaskets and some tampons, maybe an alternator belt. They’re all things you’ll use soon enough and they can pop the gasket in with that.

AF1 seem to be good sorts and I’ve never had any issues with stuff I’ve ordered off them.

AF1 team was really friendly with me, they offered a refund on the broken part.
I'll give our local shop a call.

luckily I haven't remove the old oil pan yet [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I've delt with AF! for 15 years...Through many Aprilias and Guzzi's I have owned and restored..They have always been very good to deal with...in the event they made a mistake they always owned it and took care of it! Steve over there in online parts is a good guy to deal with.

That's bad luck! I just ordered the same gasket myself as the last one I installed has a slow oil weep.. these should be installed 'dry' right? Is there any recommended products to apply before installing.. Trying to avoid the same situation .. (I think last one got some small amount of engine oil on it before install)

They go on dry but a bit of oil on them won’t make them leak. Michael has such stuff in stock as well, including some thicker aftermarket alternatives if you’re after service items.
