Front wheel bearings?

Hi All,
Just checking as I have had this info before but can't find the post!
Am I right in thinking that the front wheel bearings for a 2006 GRiSO 1100 are 6005?

Can't help with the number WH, but I will be interested to know, my 06 1100, has now 60,000ks and these bearings have now done lot's of work.

Got the bearing numbers from else were as no body on the forum seems to know!
Front wheel bearings for GRiSO 1100 (and I presume 1200 too) are 6005 2RS.
Steering head bearings are 32907JR-3.

I forgot to mention the seal size for the front wheel is.......30x47x7.

Hi Wardentm,
My 2006 GRiSO has done 20,000 miles and the front wheel bearings are shot to pieces!
I would have them replace a.s.a.p you don't want that front wheel seizing at 80 mph!!!
(I had the rear bearings replaced when I had an issue with the final drive)

Bearing is 25/47/12 and a 2RS obviously. The outboard seal is 30/47/7.

They are the correct dimensions alright Pete, thanks.....the reference part number for SKF, FAG ect is.....6005 2RS.
I'm in the bearing trade and would only use good quality items. Beware! there are lots of garages out there (unless you fit them yourself of course) who will fit cheapo Chinese crap without you knowing it, until they fail!!!
Insist on good quality bearings...it's worth your life.

Back wheel doesn't have bearings per-se. They are the crownwheel carrier bearings in the CARC.

WildHenry stated above he had his done when he had his final drive serviced and this prompted my request, but obviously leave well alone unless the drive is apart.

On this I have an 1100 in at the moment, it's only done 22,000 km or so, it's a 2006. I've just fired off a query to the importer on its CARC as it wasn't fitted with the seal protection shroud and that was something that was also supplied at the time of the early CARC recalls.

Now the early boxes were fitted with a dreadful, inferior 17 ball bearing manufactured in some country where people wear bones through their noses and carry their money in their hair. It used to break up the cage and spew bits of cage out through the seal. If you didn't notice the oil pouring out and the tyre loosing traction it could collapse completely and lock the rear wheel and kill you. Needless to say there was a recall! Being it's a safety recall it is still current so next time you change your back tyre Only if you have a 2005-2006 Breva or GRiSO make sure you have the seal protector, (It usually sticks to the wheel.) and if you have any doubts contact your local dealer and give them the CARC number which lives under the top boot of the reaction arm on the wheel side.

If you own a later model 1100 or a 1200 you have nothing to worry about so if you bug your dealer about it he will think you a fuquetard and a 'Rhymes with Runt' so don't!

Pete is right of course, the rear bearings are part of the CARC shaft drive.
Sorry if I misled you!
The bearings in question are as follows.
Big bearing for the bevel box....61917 C3
Small brg for bevel box...6206 C3
Pinion brg #1......6304
Pinion brg #2 ......6205
Hope this is of use.
Like Pete I also had the problem of the locking washer coming loose along with the nut ...hence rear end bearing and seal replacement.
Luckily there was no damage done to the bevel box.

How do you know if you need to replace the front wheel bearings? Sometimes when I'm pushing the GRiSO out of the garage, it almost sounds/feels like there's some front brake pad rubbing (there isn't though). I don't expect push bike smooth (or should I?). I have about 16,000 mi on my 2008 G11.

Elevate the front of the bike so the wheel is off the ground spin the wheel and feel for notchiness, listen for noises. Then turn the steering to full lock and grab the wheel at six and twelve o'clock and rock it. There should be no discernable plat in the bearings.
