Subject: PNW ghetto Cabal - Breakfast and Green Valley Road fun. Sat Feb 01, 2014 3:36 pm
We had our monthly Washington State Moto Guzzi Club breakfast today. It's always held at the Krain Corner Inn in Enumclaw, WA on the first Saturday of the month.
The food is always good, but half the fun of going is getting there and back. It's about an 80 mile round trip from Seattle, mostly highways, but there is a stretch of tasty curves from Auburn to Enumclaw called Green Valley Road. So we get 14 minutes or so of fun to and from the restaurant proper. It's still wintertime here, so it was cold, rainy, with lots of glare before breakfast. Warm and clearish going back home, but that also brought out a lot of other traffic, which kind of killed the buzz...
At any rate, we had three GRiSOs from the PNW ghetto show up today. Pete "Street" on his red, 2007 GRiSO 1100, Jin "FreshEgg" on his white, 2009 GRiSO 1200 8V, and myself on the 2012 GRiSO 1200SE with the nearly famous Aussie FU2 map freshly uploaded yesterday afternoon.
I have to say that I am much more impressed with the work Pete and Mark did on this now that I had the chance to wring it out a bit this morning. Not only is it smooth and crisp, but it pulls like a bull from about 5500 to 8000 or so. It's a grin machine! Entering the highway after Green Valley Road on the way home blasted up to 105 before I even bothered to glance down. Smooth, quick and a bit of a launch from seventy to the ton.
Score another one for the Austrians!
Sure it was wet, cold and grey, but what fun is a GRiSO in the garage...

Just went for a 100km ride out west of Geelong. Had to travel 40 km just to get some decent twisties. Lots of open sweepers and some nasty decreasing radius bends. All fun though, but it's hot, around 32 centigrade and getting warmer.

I went for a quick spin this morning while it still less than 30.
It's 42 now...phew!
..and I'm not Austrian. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

The whole 'Austrian' thing is a long standing joke started by a mutual friend of Steve and mine on another board. I'd explain but the midget porn and Mars Rover references would only confuse you......
