43-45 Miles per gallon

After 6 years of riding the GRiSO I finally started checking my mileage. This is mainly because I've been riding with a group of guys with FJR's & Concourses that all have more gas tank capacity where I have to stop before they do. I have been pleased with what I have found but I have to believe a lot of it is due to what I have learned here in the Ghetto. I have a stock exhaust but about a year ago finally installed a Beetle map which was an incredible difference. I also did the canister-ectomy and got rid of the air box snorkel (for a screen over the opening). I've been using non-ethanol gas that I can find where I live (89 octane). Have tuned up the bike from instructions here and feel comfortable doing the valves myself after some help the first time around. OK, so I've been getting 43-45 MPG. in not to hot weather here in Georgia and at pretty spirited speeds with the guys I ride with. This was a pleasant surprise after expecting 35 MPG.
So, thanks to all for all the really great advice and tutorials & map.

Good to know it is possible on the non ethanol 89, is what I have down here.

On my old Tenni GRiSO that Pete bought, I was getting 300km /186miles per tank pretty regularly with a flatty version of Mark's map.

My new GRiSO here gets 35mpg if I am lucky but hasn't been ridden as much, I figured it was the 89 fuel and the fact it is still so new.

How useful is the snorkel removal? Will the thermostat install help too?

ecs, I have a 2011 that's been rollerized and while I don't have a beetle map yet I can report I get about 38-42 ish mpg running around on the back roads and a high of 49.5 mpg on constant 70 MPH freeway riding. I buy 92 octane gas (w/ 10% ethanol) and I give it a splash of Sta-Bil fuel conditioner every other fill up. The only mod I've done is remove the air snorkel to make room for a tire repair/compressor kit that slides under the rear seat latch area. I didn't notice any change in engine sounds or performance.
