1100 Piston Rings

My bike was built in November 05 . The last few digits of his VIN is a number lower than 700. The piston ring arrangement is something I've not seen before. The top ring has a narrow ring groove with a shoulder that steps up for the ring /cylinder seal. The 2nd ring is the mirror of this. The scraper ring is conventional. Does the later run of the 1100 have a more conventional set up ? The way I see it my bike has 1 compression ring , 1 crankcase pressure ring and oil scraper rings. Why is it so ?
On a side note when I bought The GRiSO we had to trade my bike and my wifes. Since then she has threatened me with divorce if I bought another bike .........I don't want a new bike. But today she said that WE could afford to buy me a new bike in 16 months time. I don't want a new bike. How long do you reckon they will keep makin The GRiSO ?

Well in 16 months you could swap the 1100 for an 2015 8V in red If you could find a new one it'd get a discount for being "last years model"!

At some point they'll have to update them to keep sales up enough to justify production. Probably then they'll stop making them in favor of using the development $ towards a different model they think would sell better. Purely a guess but I'll bet 2016 will be the last year. This is based purely on the fact that it's lousy non-riding weather here in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic and it's easy to prognosticate! YMMV, IMHO, etc. etc.

in Europe must have new motorcycles from 2017 on an ABS. Otherwise is it not possible to registrate them. So i think, that the last year for the original GRiSO would be 2016. Hope that Moto Guzzi is bringing 2017 a "new" GRiSO.
