Hi all, just a quick intro. Name is Mark, I'm in Memphis TN. home of the King of Rock 'n Roll and Bar-B-Q. I bought a 2007 GRiSO 1100 in black from the insurance money I got from the wreck of 2002 California Stone. I call her Sophia (after Sophia Loren for those of you that are old enough to remember her) and she is a dark naughty girl that I have a blast riding. I havenn't done any mods to Sophia yet, although i might just try to tinker with the ecu if I can figure a cheap way of doing it.

That's about it for me.

I have a 2006 1100 and in black, blast to ride.
Not sure if there is much to do with the ECU on the 1100 other than udate the map.
Look at the rear shock, just took mine off to send for new spring and re-vavle.Also watch out for pipes with no baffle/Db killer, mine came with a Granelli straight through and ran like crap.
Installed the original and all good.

Hey Mark, welcome to the ghetto!  Glad you were able to find your way back in.  I've had two 2007 GRiSOs and put about 38K miles on them before getting my 1200SE, great bikes.

I've got to get back to Memphis sometime.  I was last there about 10 years ago.  Had to visit Graceland of course, and really enjoyed the nightlife.  Great BBQ too!

Tinkering with the ECU can't get much cheaper.  Assuming you have a laptop, the software is free and the cables run about $30 for the pair.  [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

The last time I was in Memphis was when they broke ground for Overton Square. I am certainly dating myself.  Very Happy 

We had a clothing factory in LePanto, AR - 40 miles west out rt. 40.

They could be, I don't know them myself. Next time I ride with the cafe racers I'll ask one of them, they keep up with local music scene more than I do.

From what I was reading, it seemed that I would have to buy $500 box in order to remap the ecu. I was also worried about screwing it up and being unable to get back the originL map.

This whole idea that you need to spend vast amounts of money for either an aftermarket 'Box' or some rather inadequate 'Reflash' is, I'm afraid, bollocks.

No, you can't just plug in and use a programme like Tunerpro and magically you'll have a superbly running bike. The thing is that this is one of those wonderful, appealing, simple solutions which makes folks willing to separate them from large wedges of cash for an 'Easy' and 'Perfect' solution.

Unfortunately I have yet to find a 'Magic Box' that works. I paid for the early 'Rapidbike' module. They never even sent it to me and then told me to go fuck myself. That was some $800 down the drain. I then purchased the full PCV-AT system. Can't remember how much that cost? A lot though. It wouldn't even boot up on my computer and required me to start chopping into the bike's wiring loom! Erk! Fuck that! Then I found that it caused all sorts of problems with over-fueling and the 'Auto Tune' feature was completely inadequate for tackling some of the fueling issues associated with especially the 8V Guzzi engine and doubly especially with the GRiSO with its odd exhaust pipes.

Using a programme like Tunerpro and the Guzzidiag software allows you to completely circumvent all of that shit BUT you do have to know what you're doing. I've done a bit of work myself but my results have been less than stellar. Luckily Mark has a real 'feel' for this as well as being an electrical nerd and 'pooter programmer. Quite simply, he can do stuff in a short time that would take me much, much longer.

I'm hoping to continue working with Mark on improving the rideability of ALL Guzzis but at the moment our main focus is on the 8V models simply because the 4V is now obsolete and does work better with some of the other, admittedly expensive, options. In time though it would be very nice to develop a swag of maps to offer to people, not to give them huge improvements in outright power, but to give them much greater enjoyment from their bikes. Whether we achieve this depends a lot on interest and demand and also on whether we, or at least I, have to cop a whole load of shit from people who have a vested interest in keeping the whole FI business cloaked in secrecy and classified as 'Too Hard' for ordinary mortals.

The important thing to remember is that no Guzzi is going to be turned into an RSV-4 beater. What you can achieve is something much more enjoyable to ride. If that isn't what you want and you DO want an RSV-4 beater then in the name of all that's holy just go out and buy a Desmodecci and get over it!

Depends upon what you want to do.  If all you want to do is load maps on your ECU (including reversion to a stock GRiSO 1100 map) all you need is Guzzidiag (free) and the two cables linked in the other post ($30).  If you want to develop maps on your own, that gets a bit more involved, but all you need is a copy of the Tunerpro software available from the Guzzidiag website.  Free versions are available and the cost for the more robust versions are nominal.

Not sure what $500 box you are referring to, but it's certainly not necessary to remap the ECU.

To get an idea of what can be done, just read through [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and see what folks like our own Beetle are able to accomplish with these simple tools.  Paul is also on-board here and is one of the driving forces behind the evolution of the Guzzidiag software tool.

G'day Mark and welcome.


You won't futz your ECU with any of the GuzziDiag suite of tools. I've been messing with two 5AM ECU's now for about 5 months, reflashing them countless times without an issue.

If you download your original map (and you should) you can reflash it again anytime to get back to factory. No need to worry about screwing it up - just go back to your original. Easy.

There's absolutely no need to spend money on anything other than the necessary cables to connect to the ECU. Anybody who says otherwise is lying.

If you want no-BS advice, you come to the right place.
