| Hey, wait. Where am I? Who's the guy in the fez? And there's a weird guy with crooked glasses in here too. Oh. It's the Other Side. Through the looking glass. I'm in GRiSO Heaven! Something Steak didn't mention about his first GRiSO being totaled: He killed an elk with the thing. Killed the elk, killed the GRiSO, but Steak, being the tough, chewy guy he is, survived it, and has the souvenirs to prove it - bolted to his bike. Unlike Steak and Elvis, I've never crashed my GRiSO. I like Pete's description of the bike; I would distill it further and call it the Old Man's Sportbike. At least Pete & I would qualify for the "old" part - these other guys are just "mature for their age." Mine is an 07 1100, bought in 08, and it's all I need, even though the extra 20 ponies in the 1200 is tempting. When I got the GRiSO, I also had a Honda ST1300, which I rode 30K miles, and while it was a very competent motorcycle, it never spoke to me. You know? No soul. It was like riding an industrial sewing machine. Sold the Honda recently, but the GRiSO's a keeper. It's set up for touring, with the tailrack and tailbag, Guzzi soft panniers, Givi bikini fairing, Stelvio hand guards, old Garmin GPS that's small enough to hide behind the fairing, and a Guzzi tank bag from my old 03 Stone (my first Guzzi). Oh yeah, and there's the Termignoni pipe. I've been told the bike generates more hp on the dyno with the baffle in, but I just love that pipe's bark, so I'll settle for less hp!  --------------------------------- Some folks call it "vibration" We Guzzisti call it "character" | |

| I don't need the full 20 bhp of the 1200, but my 1100 does a great wheelie, then hits the rev limiter and drops, if it had a bit more overrun or bottom end to pull it up, it would be a delightful wheelie bike, My 02 Lemans with roper sloppage plate was a wheelie monster, as was Pete's Scura now owned my Chuck from Indiana. You could hardly take off on that sucker with going airborne, clearly the most torque of any guzzi I have ever ridden regardless of valve count... | |
