FWIW it seems the importer has pulled another 'C' kit out of nowhere for me so I once again have a 'Spare' in stock.

Can I suggest that anyone who wants their flat tappet bike, (In Oz.) rollerised get in touch. As long as you have a service history I should be able to get a kit under warranty, if you don't then I'm afraid you will end up paying but it is a LOT cheaper to catch it before it gets really bad than it is to leave it and hope.

I will continue to do my utmost to ensure that everyone gets the fairest outcome possible but do realise that the final decision is not mine......

I struggle bulgy strongly recommend anyone with a flattie to contact Pete immediately if your bike is eligible. Don't think "she'll be right, mate". Do it now.

Just as an addendum to this.

If you have a problem with your tappets and decide to call me on a Saturday afternoon and don't like the fact that your five year old bike has only has one service by an authorised dealer and then you took it to your 'Mate' who is an 'Old Time Mechanic' and then only once in five years when I point out to you it will be very hard to get the factory to supply an upgrade kit based on that sort of history it *really* doesn't help if you start screaming 'Lawsuit' and being belligerent towards me!

I'll try as hard as I can to get a good outcome for anybody but start with the onus do and implied threats and I'm afraid you'll be drop kicked into the 'Nowhere' bucket faster than you can say "What did I do?"

But Pete, these ignorami with heads inserted deeply within sphincter, are certainly within their rights to have everything provided free by you and Guzzi. Surely they deserve to have you grovel at their feet and kiss their hairy brown blots? It's the modern consumer way.

I just find it really weird.

Look at the warranty and service book! It has a service schedule! Whether you, I or Uncle Tom Cobbly think it's *Correct* or *Fair* is utterly irrelevant! The fact is if you havent got five pages of yarbles on a five year old bike it will be 'Warranty Declined!'.

Sure it sucks balls but the long and the short of it is you can scream 'Consumer Protection' until you're blue in the tits! The factory will just say "No service history? No upgrade kit!"

I can imagine what sort of 'Tuning' will of been done by this 'Old School Mechanic' too. "It was idling too fast so i wound the stop screw out a bit and the factory set the air bleeds up wrong so i opened them both to 1 & 1/2 turns out. She runs golden now!"

Gakk!

Tee hee. Legal fees would be more than the cost of the kit plus install. Good luck with their suit. Who they gone sue? Guzzi or Samples? Just suck it up, sunshine.

Hi,

I bought my G12 when it was only 10 months young (in 2010), so in the middle of its 2 years warranty time.
But what the ....., it's a far, far to nice bike to keep my hands of.
My bike hasn't been in a Guzzi workshop since it's with me, so no history.  tongue
Changing to a roller kit last winter, before the flattys were going to make trouble, was for my expense.
Ik bought the B kit plus some other parts (to complete it as kit C).  Cool
Okay, it was costing a few bucks, but I already have 5 years a lot of fun in my garage with my G12.
yeah, yeah, outside my garage too...
I would say: even if you have to pay it yourself... DO IT!!
Preserve your precious bike!  I love you

Yes, I'll say cheers
Chasing warranty from manufacturers seems to be a thankless task, at least in my industry. I hope that everyone realises how much unpaid time goes into processing these kind of claims.
Thanks for your time and efforts Pete king , I'll now crack a beer and lift it towards Bungendore.

Could be Mark (yes another one!) - been trying to get him to join up this site. He has ordered the cables and is "getting ready" to obtain GuzziDiag/TunerPro et al.

ARRRRGH!

So today I start to install the 'A' kit I've been waiting months for for the kit to arrive.

Left hand side goes swimmingly. Go round to the right, open the box supposedly containing the right hand cambox and not only is in not assembled but there are several vital bits missing!

To assemble the roller boxes requires a couple of special tools which I actually have but a.) I shouldn't have to screw about assembling the cambox, its supposed to come to me in one piece! and b.) It's bloody hard to assemble one if the bits needed to do so aren't included in the kit!

Fuck it shits me! Who are these cretins!

Had a lightbulb moment! I have Peter's 'D' kit under the bench. He won't be down until March sometime. Called him. He's cool with me pinching the RH cambox out of his kit so I can get Larry back on the road!

Bullet dodged! cheers

Hi.

I have just pulled the left head off my bike to put a roller cam on it. Just to let all of those who think they will be OK, know, that the left hand follower and cam is on its way out. The wear marks are just showing and I am not sure how many more k's I would have got out of it. The bike has already had one cam done (under warranty) and they put the Diamond coated ??? cams in it.

Just a check for me, is the head bolt torque 30 ft pounds and cam allen keys 20 ft pound. The manual I looked at talks about certain torques and then half a turn.

Cheers

Mark

The initial torque plus *X* degrees is only on the older pushrod motors. All 8V's 30-32 ft/lbs for the main nuts/studs and the camchain tunnel bolts? Well, if you can't judge it you shouldn't be working on your own machine.....
