GPR and Beetle MAP Empty
PostSubject: GPR and Beetle MAP   GPR and Beetle MAP Icon_minitime1Sat Jul 23, 2016 4:37 pm

Just got finished installing a custom map from Beetle on my 2014 1200 SE With GPR DB killer installed.
As advised and helped (Many thanks mate) by Steak, Adjusted valves, easy peazy, adjusted throttle bodies with the aid of a carb mate, also simple, downloaded all necessary programs, acquire the new map, and cables. After understanding what the read and write programs are for, downloaded the old MAP to my lap top (15 minutes) then uploaded the new MAP (3 minutes) then reset TPS and autolearn, reset idle, went for a ride,..
Smiled all the way after the first mile, actually laughed and howled a bit... Gone are the crackles and pops on over run, gone is the 3K flat spot and the 3.5K lumpiness. Not ridden it enough for a full appraisal, but WOW! what a bloody difference!! Many thanks to all who helped me figure that out.
Funnily enough, the bike actually seems a little quieter?
Other mods include the Corbin seat. I know many will hate the red but it's WAY cooler than black in 100 degrees.. White was out, silver may have been too much silver, and so red and green are the only obvious colors left, red seemed to be best with the other red accents already on the bike.
Wrapped pipes in heat tape, (A must do for me) Carc mounted License plate holder, Cut down rear guard but left it long enough for the license plate light. New grips which are crap and will go away soon.
Currently making custom bungee mounts for a Kuriakin (Can't remember spelling) tail back to carry incidentals with the stock seat.

Cheers all,
C.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Well done Clive! I like the red. Looks unique and very Italian. Which fly screen is that?

Yup, the red seat is natty!

Amazing the difference a decent map and a good tune-up makes innit?

A designer colleague once said to me, after someone gives you an opinion regarding design, have a quick look at what they are wearing..!!
LOL.
It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Either way, as a young guy growing up in England, riding Norton's and Triumphs, it's seems strangely coincidental to me, that back then we were nick named "GREASERS"
And then, all these years later, here comes this amazing, unique, off beat, dirty, rugged, "Ogri" looking (Anyone get that?) bike named the "GRiSO"
Had to own one!

That's all I can say. (Well not really, but I have German guests over an open beers to consume!)

Yes Clive I do get the Ogri reference. Back in the day I used to by Bike magazine and always looked forwards to reading about Ogri and Malcolm's (mis)adventures.

The old Ogri Cafe still lives on in East Sussex. It's called Wessons now.

Oh really! Nice.. Wonder where "Wessons" comes from..? Mind you, where the hell did "Ogri" come from for that matter!

One more cost of remapping my bike.
After finishing up, I decided to put the box with my carb mate and cables on the shelf over my bench.
The shelf also has large head nails hammered in the end so I can hang painted bike parts on them to dry.
being lazy, I decided not to grab the ladder and instead jump up and put the box on the shelf.
On the way down, one of the nails hooked under the ring I wear (Wore) on my pinky.. Ouch!
Gravity and piss poor luck reminded me I needed to throw that old ring out, especially as the ex gave it to me. Wife had little sympathy.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Corbin looks better on the right with the Italian colors.
Not sure why they don't put it on both sides..
I suppose a little asymmetry is cool here and there.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

We have a saying in the sculpture world, "If you can't make it good, make it big! If you can't make it big, paint it red!"

Hmm, not sure if that reads as a compliment or not...

You've definitely tapped into the GRiSO vibe Clive. That red saddle is the tits! I wish I would have thought of that...

Really glad everything worked out smoothly for you.

Thanks Steak, I really appreciate the comments.

Since spending much of my youth in the UK, branded as a "Greaser" riding.. I won't say "Cafe" bikes, (Although I did own a Rickman Triton) but let's say mildly "Chopped" and maybe "Ratted" Bonneville's, Commando's and tridents, it seemed like my bike was finally born when the "GRiSO" arrived.
It embodies all the things I loved about bikes, and the kind of biking I did with my mates back then in the 70's and 80's.
Raw unadulterated grit, and yet oozing sex but with total masculinity.
No other bike could better embody what riding bikes is all about for the true "Greaser"
In my humble opinion of course.

Many thanks once again mate for all your help.
Make sure you look me up when you are in the area.
Cheers,.

Cheers!

It's a bit wider than original and a bit firmer but it has a special foam that they tell me i need to break in for a couple of thousand miles.
Feels great so far on 50-100 mile short rides.
Not had chance to use it farther because i usually use the stock seat with my tail bag for longer trips.

clivepc welcome from Canada ..., your bike looks super wasnt sure on the seat on first look but i am liking it now , accents the bike nicely i would say.
I know what you mean re the GRiSO you have to love them.. Every time i ride it, i smile and when parked it gets noticed and the questions come , some think its a one off build .
Here Guzzi are few and far between.

Well thank you Sir.. (Didn't see your name) i really appreciate the kind comments.
Frankly i go back and forward on the seat as well. the decision was really driven by wanting a lighter color to beat the 90-100 degree Idaho summer days heat. and i have to say, it works great!
I had it parked outside my architects office the other day in 92 degrees. one of the guys rides a Harley, with a black seat of course. i was there a good 2 hours so enough time for both bikes to reach temp in the sun. The black seat was almost too hot to touch, mine felt really cool by comparison and comfortable to climb aboard.
