I put off buying these for a long while for more than one reason ( expense was at the top of the list ). Trying to come up with the best mounting system also stymied me. In the end I had a friend turn down the stock bar ends to 1" diameter leaving a shoulder with recess to cover the threaded receiver nut. I am happy with the result. I had read that the improvement in buffeting would make this modification worthwhile. I was amazed that this really is true! It is not just a vanity mod after all.

They look good. I would be concerned with them on my bike due to the fact that we are allowed to lane filter here in Oz and they might scrape the cars. Do they stick out much from the end of the bars?

Hi,
I have a set of these, but mounted straight into the end of the bars.Fiddly with threaded internal of the bar. I lane filter extensively (over and back on the Sydney Harbour Bridge Monday-Friday peak hour) and M5 for those who know this.

I find that they don't create any impediment as there are other width clearance matters to consider. I'm very happy with optical quality and build quality. Maybe the extra width with the turned bar ends might have some effect but otherwise go with it, excellent stability of mirror at speed.

Using the stock bar end adds about a 1/2 inch total width over removing the threaded insert and using Rizoma bar ends.
I was afraid of mucking the threads with the assembly that goes with the Rizoma weights. I intend to reinstall hand guards this Fall and this will require replacing the inserts and weights with Stelvio ones.

That looks like a nice solution, Hank - well done.

I like it. When you take the weight off, is the large headed bolt just threaded into the handle bar?

The assembly is as stock with the exception of the partially reduced diameter of the weight. The threaded insert (large headed bolt ?)  that receives the cap screw that in turn attaches the weight, remains unaltered. I guess if you never took a weight off before, this might be a mystery. I should have taken another photo!

I just answered my own question. I took the threaded insert out. I have a set of motovation ends that have provisions for mirrors. Looks like i can modify them to work.

If you have changed your weights from stock they may require no modification. The mirrors come with three bushings. I used the bushing for 1" bars.
The other bushings are thicker (for 7/8 bars ) and thinner (for use with Rizoma bar-end weights). Given that there was a bushing to be used with Rizoma weights, I assumed having a plastic bushing was a functional part of the assembly. The stock weights are designed with a large diameter to facilitate the recess that covers the insert. It is not a bad design as it results in a solid connection.

Mirrors are rock-solid if that is your question. Vibration in the grips is unchanged or perhaps improved. The material loss on the weights is more than compensated with the addition of the mirrors. (they are quite hefty) If gram shaving is your game, these are not for you!
