Anyone know what spec the 8mm bolt on the end of a roller cam is supposed to be torqued ? I was going to torque it to 18 ft /lbs-25 n/meters.

It's a high tensile fastener, I don't use a torque wrench on 'em but it would be more than 18ft/lbs. use some 243 on it as well.

The torque setting I used was 30NM or 22 ft/lbs with loctite 243.

..and I'm talking about the opposite end to the gear end. Hopefully there wasn't any confusion!

So the end with the end float control mechanism? No, that's a 6mm bolt so lower torque. Make sure that the washers are centres properly as well otherwise the system won't clamp down properly and the bolt may come loose. There is a special tool to achieve that which also allows you to tighten it properly.

Why did you disassemble it's?

Pete

Yes, the end float side. Despite usually being meticulous and not f-ing up mechanical operations, I'd somehow not tightened a valve adjusting lock-nut properly, the adjuster backed off (lock nut ended up in the sump) and slightly wallowed the stem/hole in the rocker. I replaced the rocker arm, but while it's supposed to be removable by just yanking the rocker cap, it wouldn't come out. Seems the rocker had much more material out the side of the adjusting screw hole than the replacement. But anyway, had to pull the cam and lifters to get the bastard out. I could have gotten by without replacing the part, but I didn't want to risk it. 8mm bolt head, not the shank. The inner washer and Belleville washer center on the cam, but the outer washer's hole is a bit bigger than the bolt, seems impossible to center perfectly. Looking through the special tool list, I didn't see one for this. Does it have a part number?
I followed your rollerization tutorial, made it doable on my end-thanks!
