| Greetings from Tasmania, just fitted a memjet gadget to my 06 850 mainly to overcome leanness at idle and stutter at 5k. Fits in 5 minutes, 10 adjustment levels (on 5 at thr mo). Instant improvement pulls hard all the way, no dips or plateau. I bought from Italy but found out I could have bought local. Don’t know ( or care ) about consumption yet. This bike had “beetle” map by previous, any way to tell? Cheers Pete | |

| I would strongly advise against leaving the memjet crap on it.
If it had had one of Mark's maps in it you wouldn't of considered an add on widget.
What was it doing at idle that made you think it needed a widget?

| Same as my 14 bmw f800 , shithouse to ride in heavy traffic, lean band around 100 km , typical factory emission set up. Me mjet working well. Problems? | |

| Sounds like it needed tuning properly.
Memjet is a sensor fooler, from memory air temperature sensor. If it is the ecu will trim around it in a short time. If it's an O2 sensor fooler it can cause a high risk of 'Service' errors due to pushing the ECU out of its comfort zone and throwing it into limp mode and/or cause grotesque over fuelling with associated bore, ring and guide wear.
Who last balanced the throttle bodies? Has the TPS been recalibrated after that was done? Has anybody tried to lower the idle speed by screwing out the throttle stop screw? Is the paint still intact on the linkage rod ball joints?

| Eldo,
Don't misread Pete's tone, he really is trying to help you tune your GRiSO properly to get the most out of it and more importantly to help you avoid potential disaster. There is no place nicer, everyone on here is passionate about Grisos and some, like Pete Roper are experts in their care and feeding.

| No problems, my 850 is my daily and I love riding it I guess my point was we all know why harleys,BMW moto Guzzi leave the factory tuned for emissions not ride ability . The f800 was cured with xfied lamba probe, the moto Guzzi has been transformed by the memjet air temp/press sensor approach. Both gadgets have made both these bikes much more enjoyable to ride. They both use a bit more gas but no dirty pipes. Don’t know how or care, cheers pete | |

| May I ask whom you purchased it off? I might be able to tell you if it had one of my maps in it.

| Yeah, Ian had one of my maps. He was running without a dB killer. No idea whether he stuck the stock map back in when he sold it.

| Well, I'll make the offer.
I'm going to be in Tassie in the last week of Feb. if you'd like me to fling the laptop, cables and a manometer in my bag and come and check it out I can. Where are you?

| Well Pete , that’s an offer I can’t refuse. We’re in Sandford, near Hobart you’re welcome anytime. Do you know the bike ? It came with a titanium muffler in a box but Ian said it was a bit loud, now running a mg pipe | |

| When you say an MG pipe do you mean the factory conical silencer or the Termi aftermarket item.
Please believe me these sorts of things, along with the ones I asked earlier, are important.
I'm not casting any aspersions on your, or anybody else's abilities or understanding, but to try and diagnose issues I need to ask direct questions and need direct, honest, answers.
The fact is that every 'Add on' widget is a cludge and some of them really are damaging. The W5AM controller is an open book but to even take a stab at mapping a bike any specialist, (Not me!) needs to know a LOT about the bike, it's history and it's set-up.
Without honest and accurate information none of us can help get your bike running better.

| Probably why it didn't run great. It was mapped for a very loud pipe, free flowing pipe. The map was a one-off.

| My 1100 came with a Memjet fitted (at 5 on the dial), and the previous owner had lost the baffle for the Zard. Runs great so I've left everything as it is. | |

| Hi again, so my mate Charlie bought the pipe that the map was configured for and hey presto, runs like a stolen one. Nice off idle, pulls hard, no flats. Remove memjet, job done. Thanks | |
