| Prior to pulling off a cambox on my 2008 GRiSO and discovering what damage may be lurking (it's a very apprehensive moment in the life of a Grisoista!) I decided to take the bike for a 'pre lay-up blast' as the weather was perfect. Some days you get that feeling that perhaps one is better off staying in bed and not venturing outside ? My first clue was when I dropped the GRiSO as I ran it backwards of my hydraulic lifting work stand. It sped up and I was on the LHS, it got out of control and tipped over. Luckily no damage at all, but a lesson there for me I guess. I remember thinking, 'this doesn't bode well', but ever the optimist, and because the weather that Saturday really was perfect I set sail. About 50km from home, at a speed around 100kph I smacked into a massive swarm of something and was totally slimed so bad I could barely see out of my helmet! As I was trying to wipe the goo from my visor and wondering what the hell I'd hit, a survivor stung me on the back of my neck, just to show her appreciation. This was the first time I've ever hit a bee swarm, and the mess is really impressive. ... Don't GRiSO's stop FAST ??? After cleaning all the slime of everything, I headed for about 50km of curvy mountain roads, green leafy trees, rolling valleys and only a few cars, it really was bliss. I seem to be having the best rides of my life lately, is it because of the GRiSO I wonder ... HELL YEAH IT IS! The following picture is really how I *feel on my GRiSO*, it's me I tell ya! Actually that pic is from the 'Ragged Fringe Rally' in NSW 2015 which I attended on my newly acquired GRiSO, along with stuffed rear suspension, stuffed front suspension and stuffed tyres. I had no idea about the dreaded 8v 'Flattie' problem at the time. The GRiSO suspension has now been totally rebuilt, it has new tyres and handles like a dream, the only outstanding matter is the roller conversion. | For future reference, a poultice of crushed common bracken will take away the sting - works on all bites, stings & oyster cuts.
You sure have some nice roads up around there - I just came back from Brisbane last month via Mt Tomwein, Mur'bah, Uki, Nimbin to Casino. A delight in good weather, minimal traffic and it definitely wasn't a drought. Enjoy. Good luck with your top end.

We sure do have fantastic bike roads, it's one of the reasons I moved here a decade ago. The road I took last Saturday was Kyogle to Mur'bah, which I found perfect for me on the GRiSO. If you come thru Casino again, pm/email me before hand and I'll buy you lunch at a local cafe Cheers, Terry

| Thanks Terry. May well take you up on that. I have a mate at Tingha who is overdue for a visit, 2 brothers $ a bunch of mates on the Gold Coast, & friends to catch up with at Nambucca, Brunswick, Lismore so I have many excuses to ride those roads - again & again. | |

| Be sure you do Do you ride to Armidale on the New England Hwy, then take Waterfall Way to Coffs Harbor, up Summerland etc ? I was buzzed by a massive crop duster on Waterfall Way once, absolutely unforgettable as he flew above me, parallel and above the road. It felt like I was surrounded by 2000 Harleys from all the vibration and noise. I was on a two week ride to Perth and back at the time, so it made for a memorable start. Cheers Terry | |

Thanks.

Not if I can avoid it - maybe Buckets Way & Thunderbolts or the back roads to the Oxley, Then either the Armidale Grafton Rd or the Gwydir & up through the forest to Bonalbo Woodenbong & Rathdowney or Kyogle Uki Mur'bah. Depends where I want to end up, but prefer the roads less travelled. Takes longer, but more fun. Also try to find a few roads I haven't been on before.
