no more GRiSO!

Hi - now that the GRiSO is being fazed out in Europe will it still be made for the States? Seems a shame to stop manufacturing a bike because it doesn't have ABS and meet other Eurocrat demands....

(P.S. This Sturgis Rally is probably the least likely place one would find a potential GRiSO buyer)

Too bad, the GRiSO should be developed and refined, not dropped. They put ABS on other CARC bikes, could be adapted to the GRiSO, suspension and CARC refinement, etc. BMW has stayed committed to the R1200R, and put it through several evolutions. MG needs to do this rather than to continue to dump and reintroduce models. While the V 7 & 9 are nice, I'll likely never own one, same for the 1400 series.

Glad I have my GRiSO and Norge, will likely be my last bikes.

I couldn't agree more. Piaggio has its collective head lodged irretrievably in its collective arse. Dumping the 8v line is a corporate blunder for the ages. I like the V7, but the V9 is ugly as a mud wall and a big step backward. It has all the makings of a huge flop. With proper promotion and support, the 8v bikes could have been huge sellers. It's just inexplicable.

Haha, well, you never know! I thought my FJR was my last bike, had it for 8+ years, then got bit by a GRiSO...... and a Norge and havent enjoyed riding this much since my faithful XS1100.

The rest of the world doesn't give a fuck about Euro 4 so they could have kept selling the CARC bikes in those markets.
The Bellagio wasn't sold in the US but I'm sure it would have done well here in terms of sales.

Not worried, there's plenty of low mileage Grisos for sale. Maybe I'll even pick up an 8v to go along with my G11 in a year or so.

hi...some rumors from italy... in 2017 we'll see a new "GRiSO" and a new "stelvio"...i don t know much about the new "sport/naked"...but they say that the new sport/tourer will be very different from the most famous model on the market..

Interesting.

I love moto-rumors.  I don't believe them, of course, but I like them ... well, if they say what I want to hear.  

In my case, the realities of aging probably mean no more new big motorcycles for me.  That said, I might pare my small harem -- tho it would near break my heart to sell any of those beloved beasts  -- if the V9 came in a more useful road ... or faux off-road form as in present V7 Stornello).

It may be that the powers that be in Mandello, are attempting to satisfy the current demand (be it real or imaginary) dreamt up by the marketers and accountants. Perhaps then will some efforts be put towards really great road bikes with CARCs hanging off the back of them, such as the GRiSO and Stelvio (or maybe even a Sport!).

Bill, you are still kicking yourself about letting the other bike go (Ballabio), just don't do it. Contrary to popular belief, there is a never ending winding road in heaven/hell that will keep you occupied for eternity, or even longer. Looking forward to that day, not.

That the GRiSO may no longer be available is a tragedy. The offerings from Ducati and Aprilia may be technologically better but when one wanders these showrooms, the bike's "feel" and how it communicates with the rider is all important. The GRiSO talks to me, the Paul Smart Ducati I had didn't. Was I deaf? No, it is simply what I perceived. Your results may be different.
My '09 white GRiSO is NOT for sale, nor will be, and is willed to my son upon my demise. He damn well better appreciate it!

In Europe Euro IV stage was only the start of the madness the EU Commission is working on.
Euro V is the next step, applying for new bikes by Jan. 1st 2020 (for existing models 1 year later).

Further dramatic reduction of CO/THC/NMHC/NOx to the same (!!!) level as Euro 6c for passenger cars, which will be introduced by Sept. 2017.

On top of this:
More stringent noise emissions (possibly change of the noise test procedure)
OBD II which means control of the catalytic converter and misfire detection
More stringent evaporation SHED testing
and some others...

Nobody in Europe could imagine a air cooled bike could pass.
This means, most probably the new 1400 cc engine has to be re-designed to Euro 5, the same for V7 and V9.

I cannot imagine, that Piaggio has enough appropriations to finance in addition a new line-up for the missing 1200 cc models.

In any case, I bought a new GRiSO 1200 end of last year to have the right bike (air/oil cooled) that I want have and love for the next years. Euro V bikes will be over-engineered with electronic gimmicks, which nobody realy needs!
