don't you just love it when

you order 3 oil filters and the 'correct' filter tool from a huge guzzi dealer and they send you a tool that doesn't fit the freakin filters. Cheers ya bunch of numpties!!!!

Could have been worse if they sent you three wrong filters and one correct filter tool!  

On the 2v 1100 GRiSO, i drop the sump everytime for an oil change. This allows me to clean out all the oil from the sump. Added benefit you can see anything floating around in the residual oil too.
The extra benefit of doing this is i can use any type of filter removal tool as access to the filter is unhindered.
Once done, i fill the filter first, lube the seal with some oil and fit using any style oil filter wrench to torque up to factory setting, fit new sump gasket (yes ..new, they are inexpensive really)
Fit nice clean sump and remember to do up the bolts around the filter tunnel.
