Subject: 1200 sport throttle body synchronization Mon Jun 03, 2024 3:17 pm
Just finished the service on my 2017 GRiSO and almost done on the 1200 sport. I’m running into an issue in that the throttle bodies are different and I want to make sure I don’t move the wrong screw. Also the air bleed screws don’t seem to be visible or not in the same location as the 8 valve GRiSO. Can someone post a picture of the correct adjustments on the 2 valve throttle bodies.

On the 2V TB’s the air bleeds are in the rear cast in ‘Tube’ on the outside of the throttlebodies. Other than that the procedure is identical and the bell crank adjustment is in the same location.

Thank you. I assume the screw on the lower left is the one to adjust painted yellow and the air bleed screw is in the rear most tube adjusted with a flat blade screwdriver
I’m trying to post a picture but can’t figure out how to do it

How about a 1999 basa I have coming over this weekend for throttle body sync? Any tips? Somehow I’ve become help to a colleague who isn’t a computer guy and doesn’t have a manometer. So far we’ve tuned his 2016 GRiSO, then he brought a buddy by with a Lemans, and now on to the Basa. Lemans help came from here in a previous post. It worked out by the way. I found some info on Wildguzzi but any do’s or don’ts for the Basa? Also, does anyone know what ECU the Basa uses? Guzzidiag V6.0 doesn't seem to have this one listed. I think my colleague is planning to ride this from South Tucson to John Day to the Rally later this month. Many thanks.

I think the 99 used the P8?

'99 should be a 15M. GuzziDiag is not required, anyway...

Can’t connect to it Guzzidiag? I guess that would explain not finding it in the diag list……
And thank you both.

Yes, you can connect it to GuzziDiag, but you don't reset the TPS with the 15M. It's all done with a voltmeter. Technically, you could use GuzziDiag to set the throttle angle, but NOT the volts. GuzziDiag displays the TPS volts from the ECU ADC, which is not particularly accurate. The throttle angle interpretation is useable, however, if you prefer to use that instead of a voltmeter, but you must use a voltmeter to set the TPS baseline.

Next dumb question. What should the TPS setting be?
Many thanks again.

What does the ECU look like? If it’s a smallish, say 4 inch by 4 inch box under one of the side panels it’s a 15M if it’s a huge, square, breadbox under the pillion squab it’s a P8. The ‘98’s used the P8 still I believe but I thought that some of the ‘99’s did too, or were run out models.
Steve would know better than me about the US market.

Pete, I haven’t seen it yet and won’t until he comes over on Sunday morning but I will ask I’m the mean time. The bike has 3,700 miles on it original, can you imagine…… it’s was purchased cheap years ago and has been sitting in Colorado in a garage waiting to be fixed up by my colleagues son. He has a really nice 1970’s police Guzzi.

Changeover from P8 to 15M was '97. However, we know there's a grey area, and what was happening in Europe may not have filtered into the US for a year or more.
Sale date and build date difference can add to the confusion.

Yeah, I know that ‘98 was a year when Cali’s were very popular in the US and I was pretty sure they still used the P8? Bill still has his HD&M ‘98. Let’s ask him.

Bassa is 1st year for 15M here in USA, 98 EV last P8 here.
