Damoru I'm not sure about the wrap, I've heard it doesn't hold up well but suppose it could be wrapped again as time goes by. I've also wondered if the headers could be polished and a new map put on the bike that wouldn't cook them so much. Is there no ceramic coating available in Spain? Didn't found a place who make that. My previous bikes (Sportster and a V7 already got) have been wrapped. As time goes by, the color becames gray. Don't mind the original color: White, black, copper... It always tends to grey

| I've used VHT exhaust paint before with good results. Good preparation and primer is important. Sounds cheap but lasts for years. I'm thinking to do something as my pipes started to look diseased from day 2. | |

| It's only my opinion, but wrapped pipes look shite, unless its to keep frost off your plumbing | |

I use 800 grit wet sand paper over those black dots... then go over the whole pipe with 1000. Done. Takes about 15 minutes...

| The matt black exhaust system on the Carberry has lasted pretty well, 50,000 km & completely unaffected by the fire - some mild stains - looks like ingrained dirt, so a more thorough cleaning in order. Got used to just wiping them over every now & again. Much lower maintenance than chrome or stainless. And they cool to the touch a great deal faster. If you can wear the cost, I recommend it. | |

| Great Idea, I have found a specialist painter in Sydney who is going to ceramic coat mine also, were the headers easy to get off?
Cheers Pete | |

| The ceramic coating looks fantastic. Definitely an option for the future. I've read the coating is quite vulnerable to damage though (from small stones etc.) is that true? - Seafrontpete wrote:

Cheers Pete That's very much dependent on many things, for example if they ever have come off before. Theoretically it shouldn't take much effort, 4 header studs, 1 bolt near the right footstep, 2 bolts where the silencer mounts the frame. Imho best to take the headers and the silencer off individually and not as one big part. In my case 3 header studs went out fine, the fourth one had seized and took me 2 days of work. I had to cut it with a small angle grinder to get the header pipe off, then drill out the remainder of the stud.

| The ones on the Carberry were done by HPC in Leongatha on new/unused steel pipes & they didn't chip at all - very hard wearing, matt black. As I understand it, proper ceramic coating goes in a bath before the oven, then high temperature baking. I'd like a clear ceramic coat on the stainless headers, I suspect the clear won't be as hard, but as I can't afford it at present, I haven't chased it up further. Yet. | |

| Hey Mal, weren't your carberry pipes "double baked"? |

| So, how are the OP's looking after 4 years? Krystal, too? Actually, the Ricochet website seems dead, but other vendors do that nearer here and I am considering it. "Ugly" pipes have never been much of a concern to me, but the ceramic ones I've seen do look nice. Bill | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Had the Bub's done as they were looking kind of tacky. Have had several sets done by the same guys. They also do a polished silver that looks great for some applications. They do excellent work and the cost for these was $250.00. They are in Omaha. | |

| I used Autosol Blue Remove on my headers, got the chrome finish right back! some elbow grease but all good. Do use gloves as it is toxic stuff...
