PostSubject: Throttle body plumbing...   Throttle body plumbing... Icon_minitime1Wed Oct 14, 2015 10:16 pm

Gentlemen,
Soon after taking possession of my US origin 1200 2V, I performed a canesterectomy and cleaned up the associated piping, as suggested on other forums.
Yesterday I rediscovered that the vacuum/balance ports on the throttle bodies are connected to each other with an open bit of plumbing that has a central T piece that used to head off to the can under the seat. I blocked it off down that end as per, but never considered that this joins the throttle bodies together and have never given it a second thought.
Until I was connecting up my new CarbTune...
What is the collective opinion... should I remove this bit of tube... does it benefit or detract?
Obviously, I need to go for a blat, then remove the pipe and repeat, to see if there is a difference, but opportunity is not currently leaning my way.

If the pipe is effectively just a 'T' piece with the bottom of the T blocked off then it will make a negligible difference to how the bike tuns. If the bottom of the 'T' is still open to atmosphere it will make the bike idle like a bag of shit!

In all honesty if I was in your position, (We don't have the evaporative canister over here so I'm not overly familiar with how it's plumbed in?) I'd just pull the whole wretched lot off and blank off the ports with screws/Allen bolts. I think they're just a standard M6x20 dome head 4mm AF screw on models in countries that don't have the canister. Yup, they are, just checked.

Pete

Whole wretched lot coming off it is!
Well, mostly.... the ports have these neat little spigots, so I'll make up some caps for them.
The two pipes do come to a T, then run back to the can, along with breathers from the tank, and then I recall there was an outlet pipe down next to the airbox drain,  to release the 'clean' benzene vapours into the world...
Thanks for the confirmation. I'll be sure to note if there is any change...

and maybe I'll do the photo insertion tutorial.....again....

annnnd I always found it interesting that the canister set up was part of the Stage 1 'race kit' exhaust ECU package..... was it like, "ok, the new pipe is not so environmentally friendly, so we'll include a charcoal breather filter to compensate..."
nice one Mr Gootsie!
