Alrighty then.

Have read (more like scanned) every single suspension thread in Grisology, idea being to learn how to properly tune the springy bits.

Can't make heads or tails of how I should proceed given my needs and limitations.

Needs:

1. A more compliant suspension, one that seems to be working for me, not one pretending to be a suspension while it waits to land that big role in Hollywood.
2. To do it myself.
3. Spend zero dollars excepting (maybe) tools.

Limitations:

See items 2 and 3 above.

So I'm looking for a little theory on GRiSO suspension tuning, and best of all a procedure to follow that I can finesse for my largesse.
IE the scale yelps 115KG, and then a spring flies across the room. But I don't look a beer over 110!

1. It is very possible.
2. It is maybe, possible.
3. Mission Impossible

You have to spend some money to get it noticibly better.

With the standard setup you can wind the preload up tight, until you have no static sag (not a good thing but i ran mine like it for a couple of years), then adjust the rear shock as follows;

compression: 1/4 T (stock: 1.5 T)
rebound: 40 clicks (stock: 17)

I started with this and eventually ended up with the rebound back to about 28, but i do like to get on a bit.

If the front end is stock then lowering the forks so that you can see at least four of the rings through the top yoke will make it steer a bit better (mine was set at 5) then try the following

compression: 1/4 T (stock: 1 T)
rebound: 2 1/4 T (stock: 1.5 T)
preload: 5th mark (stock: 4th)

Currenlty i have a stelvio shock on the rear and being a longer shock with a heavier spring works really well. You have to raise the front back up to compensate for the extra 25mm of ride height, but again this does not meet your criteria 3
