Replacing fuel pump - Dos and don'ts?

Title tells it, tank coming off tomorrow AM. Appreciate insights from those who have gone before.

It's pretty straightforward. Be careful of the level thermistor. It's easy to damage.

All back together. started and ran on the stand. Raining today so I hope to get a ride out tomorrow (not too far from home!)

Out of curiosity: why did you change it? Was the pump malfunctioning? Or was it just a matter of 'preventive maintenance'?

It’s a problem I have been chasing for over a year. When the bike got hot it would buck and surge. The problem would come and go. Got very bad this Spring so this is the latest “fix” fingers crossed. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
