Good ride and a new Carc Empty
PostSubject: Good ride and a new Carc   Good ride and a new Carc Icon_minitime1Thu Sep 26, 2013 4:20 am

Hi All
Went for a ride today down to see one Mr Peter Roper in Bungendore NSW Australia.
Peter is the Motor Guzzi guru.
My Carc on my 2006 was still under a recall and Motor Guzzi said they would replace.
Peter found the info so he got the job.
Bungendore is about 2.5 hours away and the weather was perfect.
Headed up Macquarie Pass just south of Wollongong, one really good motorcycle road, but its rated as the most dangerous NSW.

Plenty of M/C accidents and a few deaths which is very sad, no issues with me just cruising and having fun.
From there up to the Hume Hwy which is boring as hell and on to Goulburn.
The canola is out and the fields are yellow which always looks good.

The road from Goulburn to Bunendore is a great road, surface not bad and mid week not many cars.

Arrived and Peter had another bike on the stand, a Stelvio nice bike but to big for me.
Anyway the GRiSO had a new Carc and Peter was heading home as he had the flu.
Headed down to Batemans Bay via the Clyde Mt to see some friends, followed two guys on Triumph Rocket 3's.
Man did they get into it.
Headed off home.
Stopped at the turn off to South Durras and snapped a couple of pic's of an old barn.
Been there since I can remember and is gradually falling apart, could be 100 years old.

Many artist's have stopped and painted it.
Anyway up the Princes Hwy and home.
All up a great ride.

Sounds like a good day all around. Do they grow a lot of canola in Australia? Around here it is all anyone wants to grow...

Hi landman
Yes there is a lot grown here and looks awesome when you look across the hills.
Not as big a crop as wheat.
Yes was a good ride, the next day was cold and windy so I lucked in with the weather.

I'm jealous of your roads and scenery. It all feels cramped in the UK, but there are some lovely roads, just had mine serviced today by the dealer who's actually on the Silverstone race circuit.

Cheers

Hi TonyG
At least you have race tracks, ours have gone and have housing estates on them.
I do some riding out the back of Kiama NSW, roads are about one & half cars wide and have the rock fences built by the convicts.
Don't know why but I always think of the UK when riding them, very relaxing.

Fair point, and we get some good classic type racing. Most importantly, we have the Isle of Man, which is mind blowing. Only been the once, but have to go again before I die.

Nice report Harry, sounds great!

What makes the Macquarie Pass so dangerous?

Hi Steak
Mac Pass is 8 km's of winding road up a mountain and a great road to ride.
Sadly some riders think they are at the isle of Man TT.
Many of the fatalities are in the over 40's age group, maybe returning to riding.
It's heavily Policed on weekends
I had such a ball riding my Monza 500 up there in the 80's.
I stick to my motto.
Ride so you can ride tomorrow.
