The winter season is upon us, yes it does get cold, frosty and pretty damn unpleasant to ride at times. But its good to experience all the seasons. The level of bugs drops allot, so sandflies are not as much of a problem this time of year.
But in this early winter Adventure on the GRiSO. Camp Thief's are now the problem.

A few weeks on, and it was time to head to the mountains again. the weather was clear up there, there was a slight chill in the air, until we got a little higher and closer, the real bite in the air struck. As soon as the sun disappeared, it felt like we were in a freezer. But it was still so awesome to relax. We did not know how cold it was going to get.
Part one of this little trip below.

Craig,it gets that low and lower in Canberra, you know that. LOL. I rode to work one morning and it was minus 8, that's what made me buy heated gloves and a bikini fairing.

I have been toying with the idea of heated gloves. Or replacing my work out heated grips so they work again.

True, it was that low & worse the week before last. And I do have heated glove liners. But at those temps I commute in the warm comforts of the 4 wheeler. And now that I have the little i20 go-kart, I can fit it in the garage with the bike and don't have to wait for the ice to melt off the windscreen each morning

Beyond those couple of rides, became a winter solstice ride n rally. New Zealand here has some awesome wicked places to ride. Even within the flat areas of countryside.

My irrelevant self farts in the general direction of your manly way of riding!
I like my heated glove liners, heated jacket liner, heated pants and heated socks.

I tried some of your winter style riding a couple of weekends ago. 550km to Tony's (Oz1200Guzzi). 0C when I left. 30kms up the road I hit -3C & fog. Stayed that way for 150km. I was scraping ice off the visor every minute. Life is about experiences, so I've done that now...and would prefer not to do it again

I know the feeling... been and done that sort of riding a couple of times, through whore frost. amazing though, and I keep punishing myself by doing it again... I told myself that I must go out and camp at least once a month through winter. Otherwise the bike will just sit in the garage.

And yes, Winter continues and as long as the GRiSO's engine starts and I dont feel to frozen, I'll get out and ride when I dont have to work. NZ is a great place for sure.... Check out he latest instalment.
