Well I took mine out for a run around some of my favourite local roads with a view to getting some pics as the countryside is looking magnificent this year due to all the rain. It's finally warmed up as well. About bloody time!
Anyway, I'd just pulled out of the overlook at the south end of Lake George and gave it the berries to get up to speed on the Federal Highway, a boring four lanes but you need to ride a bit of it to get to the nice roads. BAM! Hit an expansion joint at full noise and suddenly there is a lot more noise!
Turns out it's jolted the RH header out of the pretzel! Arse!
Limp home and park up to let the bike cool, do a bit of this and that and find the pipe is loose in the head. Weird as I only checked 'em last week. Went off to get another manifold gasket and pretzel gasket but when I came back with tools I found all four manifold stud nuts loose! Must be the heat I suppose as up until now we've had few days over 18*C. This week it's up in the high twenties.
Anyway, rather than immediately replacing the gaskets I've tightened everything down and it's sealed up again so I may be lucky.
Nice to see water in Lake George again. It's been dry for over a decade.

Bugger! I wouldn't have thought the effect of temp differential would be that pronounced. After all, regardless of ambient temp the whole shebang will get very hot when operating anyway.

It's the only variable I can think of, that's all. Anyway no harm, no foul.
There is a new riders group having its first ride tomorrow. I think I'll go along and see who and what turns up. Will I ride with them? Fuck No! I might follow at a safe distance for a few Km but I'm guessing I'll know the MO. I want no part of it....

Pete, Bike looks great. I ride with some semi hooligan guys our age. They’re good guys but I don’t always want to ride like they do so I always ride in the back and can do what I want. They respect that….. Nice pictures too…

Bought it another solar battery charger. Optimate this time, as the cheap Oxford ones keep breaking.

Was great to get the wheels turning and ride a few km's after so long no riding. I'm sure the GRiSO felt the love with me astride her. Totally Fab. A short video of how we went below. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Good to see you back on the bike Ghost Bullet
In SW UK it was a shockingly warm Jan 1st at 13ºC....so i did both sides of the RIver Severn on twisty roads from Bristol to Gloucester and back.
No pix because the sky was uniformly grey and the bike is now uniformly matt brown (mud).
Happy New Year all

Getting the bastards back together always takes longer than taking them apart.

re-assembly is always the inverse of the time taken to pull it all apart...

This heat ain't helping. I got a few more hours in this morning, but it's 38 degrees in the garage now, so I'll get a bit more done tomorrow AM. The "new" gearbox is in. Swingarm bearings and shock linkages repacked with fresh grease. Motive unit back in the frame.
